3/2/08: Charlie Venegas and Rich Schoeberl were crowned 2008 XiiR champions last night in Prescott Valley, AZ. Venegas took a win in round one over Barlow to tie the overall points. Both Venegas and Barlow won their next heat which meant the title was going to be decided in the main event. Venegas outgated Barlow at the start of the main and lead all six laps to become the 2008 XiiR champion. In the quad division Rich Schoeberl won his fourth consecutive XiiR Championship. Rich jumped to an early lead in the main event, and was followed by Shawn Bigham and Nathan Siegel. 3/1/08: Charlie Venegas won the main
event last night in Prescott Valley, although Anthony Barlow was able
to retain his point lead after Venegas had a fall in heat one and missed
out on valuable XiiR championship points. Barlow
now has 55 points, to Venegas' 54 points going into tonight's final
event of 2008. Venegas
won his second heat, but had to qualify for the main event through
the
last chance
qualifier. A win in the LCQ gave him
a second row starting spot for the main event. The main event
took two starts as Venegas was caught rolling from the back row,
but on the second attempt, Barlow took an early lead while Venegas
moved
into third at the end of the first lap, and took the lead on lap
4. 2/16/08: Charlie Venegas left Bossier City with the main event win, but Anthony Barlow has retained a one point lead in the 2008 XiiR Championship series. While Venegas has won two of three main events, he gave up some points in the heat rounds at the opening round in St. Charles, MO and has not been able to overcome Barlow. It looked as though Barlow was going to pull off a win in Bossier City as he lead the first four laps of the main event. Venegas waited for the right moment and made the pass with a lap and a half to go. James Mann moved into third place in overall points followed by Ricky Ashworth who is returning to his duties in Sheffield and will miss the Prescott Valley rounds. In the quad class, Rich Schoeberl extended his lead by three points over Nathan Siegel after winning his second main event of 2008. The 2008 XiiR series wraps up on February 29th, and March 1st in Prescott Valley, AZ 2/12/08: The XiiR tour heads to Bossier City, LA for round three of the 2008 Championship series. Anthony Barlow is heading into the third round with a three point lead over 2007 XiiR Champion Charlie Venegas. Venegas nearly saw his title hopes disappear after a first turn fall in the main event in Tampa. Fortunately a fall by Kelly Kerrigan in turn three brought out the red flag, allowing Venegas to make the restart and eventually winning the race. On the quad side, Nathan Siegel and 2007 series champion Rich Schoeberl are tied for first place after exchanging wins at the first two rounds. In the Tampa main event, Siegel nailed the start to take the lead. Schoeberl tried everything he could do get around Siegel, but in the end it was Siegel by a bike length claiming the win, and a marraige proposal by an admiring fan. 1/27/08: Anthony Barlow and Rich Schoeberl jump to early leads in the 2008 XIIR Championship.
