In
heat 1, James Mann made a bright start but a mistake on
the 3rd lap pushed him back to last place, while British
Bulldog Barlow took the win while Mad Dog Shawn McConnell
kept Venegas back in 3rd place.
The real surprise of the qualifying heats and indeed the
Main Final toady was the form of Kelly Kerrigan who with
a 1st and a 2nd place ensured his place on the front line
in the Main Final.
James Mann who had two poor qualifying rides partially redeemed
himself in the last chance by coming through from the back
row to claim his place in the Main Final.
It was however Anthony Barlow who made the start in the
Final and maintained the lead for all 6 laps to claim his
3rd win of the Season (Venegas had 5, McConnell 3 and Mann
the other one) but all the action took place behind him,
none more so than in the final yards when approaching the
line, Kerrigan, riding mid track and Venegas going around
the outside came together with Venegas just managing to hold
onto his bike going across the line but crashed on the 1st
bend. McConnell coming up strong on the inside thought he
had done enough to claim a podium place. Referee Graham Reeve
after viewing the video replay confirmed the Podium as Barlow,
Kerrigan and Venegas.

Supertrapp’s
Dash for Cash was once again the talking point as the
local Quad Riders lined up in an attempt to beat the
contracted Riders and in doing so earn themselves a $500
bonus if they won the Meeting. No-one was more fired
up than Frank Felder who won the money the previous night
and Washington’s Lance Hallworth who had also made
the Podium the previous night.
Needless to say the racing was of the highest standard
and action all the way as early as heat 1 when again Felder
got the better of the 2009 Champion, Nathan Siegel and
local joy continued in Heat 2 when Hallworth also collected
a win, this time from the Series 2nd placed Quad Rider,
Anthony Barlow.
Sheffield’s Ben Warburton, showed tenacity in his
ride by winning from Chris Hall and in Heat 4 it was James
Mann’s turn to shine as he also won his Heat.
The second round of qualifying heats produced a situation
where 5 Riders (Mann, Barlow, Siegel, Felder and Hall)
all tied on 2nd place overall with 5 points each having
each gained a Win and a Second place in their Heats, the
exception being Hallworth who with 2 wins was guaranteed
his place on pole position in the Final.
At the ballot Hall and Felder were the lucky ones and
were seeded to join Hallworth while, Siegel, Barlow and
Mann all took their place on the Front Row of the Last
Chance where again it was Warburton who caught the eye
as he came through from the Back Row to grab a Main Final
place.
In the twice re-run Main it was Hallworth who sped away
from the chasing pack and stayed in the lead for the 6
laps but when Hall suffered engine trouble on the back
straight it was Barlow on whom Lady Luck shone as he came
through to get 2nd place to make up for his disappointment
of the previous night when he missed out by inches.
