Charlie “The Edge” Venegas romped to a 2nd victory in the Series with a well taken Main Final win and a maximum 16 points as he easily won both his qualifying Heats.  In the 1st Heat he gated well ahead of “British Bulldog” Anthony Barlow and “The Demolition Man” James Mann to take the first of his nights heat wins and then followed that up with another Tapes to Flag win over David Meldrum in his 2nd qualifying heat to gain pole position in the Main Final.  Barlow, the Championship Leader by an impressive 11 points after Round 3 had a night to forget as defeat by Venegas in Heat 1 was followed by another defeat by “Crazy” Kelly Kerrigan later on. That resulted in Barlow lining up in the Last Chance on the back row from where he just managed a 3rd place and therefore a place in the Main Event.  However another back row start hindered his chances and as a result he gained just 1 extra championship point and also surrendered the overall Series lead to “the Edge” Venegas by a solitary point.  Kelly Kerrigan was another Rider who moved up the championship table by
leapfrogging both 17-year old Ben Hopwood and Meldrum, the latter having to borrow machinery all night as his bike developed trouble whilst being warmed-up.

With 5 local Riders joining tonight’s fray, local interest was raised and the large crowd were not to be disappointed even though there was a slightly subdued start. In the 1st Quad heat, Series Leader, Nathan “Hippy” Siegel was beaten into 2nd place by Florida’s Chris “Bomber” Hall with Charlie Moberg and Matt Sears taking time to adjust to ice racing conditions. In the 2nd heat it was more of the same with the “British Bulldog” Barlow relegating both Eric Kreis and Eric Poirer into 2nd and 3rd place respectively.  Alan Gagne, who had been paying attention to the earlier two heats, took the 3rd heat win ahead of the Scottish pair of David Meldrum and Johnny Kerr. In the second round of qualifying heats both Hall & Siegel collected race wins, whilst Barlow got a second place that ensure direct seeding to the Main Event for all three riders.  The Last Chance was contested by 4 Local Riders and 2 Brits and it was the locals who came out on top to take their place in the Main Final as Alan Gagne, Eric Kreis and Charlie Moberg lined up behind the seeded Riders.  In an exciting 6-man, 6-lap final the early leader Hall suffered a flat tire and dropped down through the field and although Cincinnati’s Nathan Siegel took the checkered flag first, joining him on the podium for well deserved 2nd and 3rd places were Massachusetts riders Eric Kreis and Alan Gagne.
